They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*We don't know how much you weigh this month but you don't seem to be having a growth spurt right now! I look at you sometimes and think how small you seem which I didn't think we would ever say about you! Even your thighs are slimming down and that's kind of sad. lol</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are wearing 9-12 month clothes but some of your 6 month onesies still fit pretty good.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are holding steady in a size 3 diaper.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are trying new foods all the time. You eat almost anything we give you. You like lots of vegetables and some fruits. You like to eat chicken and beef and LOVE bread! You only eat baby food sometimes, but mostly we feed you what we are eating. You still have 4 bottles of formula every day. I would give you some juice or milk in a sippy cup but you are having no part of a sippy cup!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You have learned how to drink from a straw and it is the cutest thing!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are sleeping better than you have been. You only wake up once in a while and usually go back to sleep within about 5-10 minutes. You still take 2 naps everyday except on Sat and Sun because we are so busy you just cat nap all day and sleep when you can. Poor thing! But you don't seem to mind at all because you never fuss. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are the most laid back baby I've ever seen. You don't cry and fuss and you don't get too loud even when you are excited. Everyone comments on how easy you are to take care of and how "chill" you are! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are cruising along furniture a little now and you can walk behind your little push toys really well! But you can crawl super fast so I'm not sure you are too excited to learn to walk anyway.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You LOVE your brother! You are fascinated just watching him (he's crazy most of the time!). You give like to grab his head and hug and kiss him. You laugh out loud at him all the time!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*We started letting you and Caden take a bath together and you both play and splash! Caden has always hated water on his face and in his ears, but you don't mind if I pour it all over your head!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*You are so cuddly and I L.O.V.E that!! I could just melt into a puddle in the floor when you wrap those precious little arms around my neck and squeeze tight! You are also very kissy and like to "gum" my chin and cheeks.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am so proud of you and all the new things you can do! I can hardly believe the next monthly update we post will actually be the first yearly post!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">*You wear 9 mth, 9-12mth, and 6-12mth clothes depending on where they are from. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">*You sleep pretty well most of the time. You go to bed between 8:30-9:00pm and get up around 7:30am. <a href="http://www.patriceandmattwilliams.blogspot.com/">Matt and Patrice Williams</a> and their little boy Jonah live here in Winston-Salem. Jonah was born with a very rare genetic skin disorder called Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa which causes his skin to slough off and blister all over. He was not expected to live even to his first birthday but this little miracle boy will celebrate his second birthday in February! <br />
<br />
In the hopes of someday finding a cure for EB, the Williams family has decided to hold their second annual auction. <a href="http://jonahsebauction.blogspot.com/">Jonah’s EB Auction</a> will raise money to help support <a href="http://debra.org/">DebRA</a> in funding their research on EB.<br />
<br />
The auction will run from Thursday, February 24th at 8:00 pm to Sunday, February 27th (Jonah's birthday) at 8:00 pm.<br />
<br />
You can donate new, bought items, handmade items, or gift cards/certificates to be auctioned off. You may also consider making a monetary donation that will first help with the shipping costs of sending the auctioned items to the winners and the rest will go directly to DebRA. <br />
<br />
If you are interested in donating items or money please email me, Ashlea Speer, at awspeer7(at)gmail(dot)com or call me at (336)425-2654,<br />
<br />
-OR-<br />
<br />
you can email Katie at jonahsebauction(at)gmail(dot)com, and she will get back with you. They need to know what you'd like to donate and the value of the item. Katie will let you know the details from there. <br />

<br />
“Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a rare genetic skin disease that causes the skin to be so fragile that the slightest friction can cause severe blistering–inside and outside the body. Today there is no cure. Severe forms of EB cause patients to live with constant pain and scarring. The worst forms of EB lead to eventual disfigurement, disability, and often early death.”~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-10292496221091971462010-12-28T19:13:00.000-08:002011-01-19T13:08:55.308-08:00Christmas at Nana's<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Christmas, Part 3</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Especially Caden because Jaxten was more interested in eating the paper so Caden got to open his presents AND Jaxten's.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I saw this idea over at <a href="http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/2010/12/tour-of-our-christmas-kitchen.html">Thrifty Decor Chick</a> and thought it looked so creative and EASY!! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">(This girl has the best ideas and most of them are things I think I could tackle myself!) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anyway, I have been wanting to do something to my dining room chairs for Christmas but I never could figure out anything. When I saw these cute little rings I knew that's what I wanted! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And did I mention how EASY it was?!? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I am so NOT crafty so for me to try it, it really has to be simple. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">You start with this: </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-wooden rings from Dollar Tree</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-Ribbon</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-Hot glue gun</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">-Scissors</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">*If you have any cute ornaments or something like that you can use them too*</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtm41f372cPf86PwOuEH86ApTzzf8ycmezbc-y21OGrrdpTo4WI_hRgR1Ju1ZLDG3gGrdu9QIYkMiSg2KPIynamYGnOJicGH5Y9gpcqSEOyGX5n6Gv4Xj-nJNuMXSiQlCb72PMLTQZxJc/s1600/Christmas+Play+074.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtm41f372cPf86PwOuEH86ApTzzf8ycmezbc-y21OGrrdpTo4WI_hRgR1Ju1ZLDG3gGrdu9QIYkMiSg2KPIynamYGnOJicGH5Y9gpcqSEOyGX5n6Gv4Xj-nJNuMXSiQlCb72PMLTQZxJc/s320/Christmas+Play+074.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Just start wrapping the ribbon around the wooden ring...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI0qF7i5rI6OweglVP_NORug8cPFhgWBiCfYpboVVFH51hKe9iagp1jClsROS9q0__U_jpO9y3EfQJ9LVIyB9nwxpNGR01VEuzfaq1f-zlNdml60D8PNVjRqmB7xiVuy9jcdzVQ14IQ18/s1600/Christmas+Play+076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI0qF7i5rI6OweglVP_NORug8cPFhgWBiCfYpboVVFH51hKe9iagp1jClsROS9q0__U_jpO9y3EfQJ9LVIyB9nwxpNGR01VEuzfaq1f-zlNdml60D8PNVjRqmB7xiVuy9jcdzVQ14IQ18/s320/Christmas+Play+076.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Cut the ribbon once you have it all covered and hot glue the end down. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlxxG9B1W1jc65HMebu2AU3idby8hgs6Ad4iPVA7kA51S4RCgbw-fDEUEU_5CUi3FAZFhdb5GA9sX_AyGe09KtSjVKZzYiPIuzQvKZNH1gFvVsD2DWgO-KdiLumOUCQwQiSpYJ9OIpQ-c/s1600/Christmas+Play+077.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlxxG9B1W1jc65HMebu2AU3idby8hgs6Ad4iPVA7kA51S4RCgbw-fDEUEU_5CUi3FAZFhdb5GA9sX_AyGe09KtSjVKZzYiPIuzQvKZNH1gFvVsD2DWgO-KdiLumOUCQwQiSpYJ9OIpQ-c/s320/Christmas+Play+077.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">(Sorry, this picture didn't get turned the right way. Oops!)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Scottie had these acorn ornaments that we've been trying to figure out what to do with. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I actually hotglued the ribbon together once I put them around the top of the chairs so it would look seamless. Hey..it worked. :)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

It was supposed to be a really big deal and something like 80,000 people usually come to see it. I like parades and all but have I metioned it was cold outside???</div><br />
<br />
<br />
And also, that I HATE being cold!!<br />
<br />
Oh, I did mention that already. <br />
<br />
<br />
Well, then you can imagine how excited I was about the thought of sitting outside for hours in the 15 degree weather.....with a 4 year old who also HATES to be cold and a 9 month old who would have been bundled up so much that no one would know whether I had a baby or a blanket burrito!<br />
<br />
<br />
We were planning on going to the Dixie Stampede on Saturday. The week before we left my dad found out we were going and mentioned that he could get us discounted tickets through his work because they are one of the sponsors for the race team he works for. Then, after a bunch of back and forth they told us they don't do discount tickets for anyone on Saturdays or Sundays in the month of December. But they do still do it on Fridays and how perfect is that?!? Great excuse to NOT go to the parade without telling everyone I just didn't want to go! The discount was amazing and ended up saving our group of 13 around $300!! We couldn't pass it up! So we skipped the parade and went to Dixie Stampede and everyone loved it. Caden was in awe the whole time and could barely eat for watching everything so intently! They don't allow flash photography inside so I only have a couple of pictures from after it was over. It was wonderful though. They even included the story of Jesus' birth. I was very happy they didn't leave Jesus out of their Christmas show! (I mean, it is his birthday you know ;) )<br />
<br />
<br />
On Saturday morning, Scottie and I went to the new Titanic museum. Caden and our niece Alayna went with us. It was A-MAZE-ING!!! The story of the Titanic has always facinated me and Scottie. I would love to go down to the actual wreckage in a submarine or something! They are doing a cruise in April 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the ship. It will go on the same route that the Titanic went and will stop over the site of where she sank at the exact time that it happened and have a memorial service. Scottie and I looked at some prices for tickets and of course it was a little too expensive for us justify paying. But I'm sure it would have been very interesting!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I absolutely loved the museum. That is a place I definately want to go back to. They had so much stuff in there and it was hard to see every picture and read every bit of information on every artifact. The grand staircase was AWESOME too. It was an exact replica of the grand staircase on the ship and it was kind of surreal to walk up and down it. They said they spared no expense and made the floors out of the most expensive material of that time. It was something even more expensive than tile or marble........linoleum. LOL </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I so wish we could have taken pictures inside. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Here's my wonderful in-laws! I really do mean that too! I have no awful mother-in-law jokes to tell and no horror stories either. My MIL has always been great and his brother is hilarious and very easy to be around. His sister is a little firecracker (and I mean that with all the love in my heart!). I was scared to death a little intimidated by her when we first started dating. I think I've mentioned on here before that Scottie and I met at his church. So for the first little bit I only saw him at church and all I knew was that there was a girl there giving me the evil eye every time I was around him. I thought she must have been a scorned ex-girlfriend or something. Nevermind the fact that Scottie and his sister look quite a bit alike! Well, she was mad because I took her brother's attention away. But once she got to know me she decided I was ok, and now we are great friends! I actually think it's sweet that she was so protective of her brother!</div><br />

Anyway, now that you have a totally unrelated story......let's see some pictures!<br />

I have absolutely no memory of this whatsoever. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So, when Scottie's brother told us that he found a great deal on a nice cabin in Gatlinburg and invited us to go, I was pretty excited!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now let me just be clear about one thing here before we go any farther. I'm a beach girl through and through. I don't generally do cold weather very well. My husband will tell you that I really don't like being cold. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">He's wrong.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I HATE being cold!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Scottie is opposite. He would rather be cold than hot. He says "there's only so much I can take off to get cool!" I say there's only so much I can put on before I look like that kid in A Christmas Story that is so bundled up he can't lower his arms or even walk! (I soooooo love that movie by the way. It replays on one channel for 24 hours straight on Christmas day and that is what we have on the tv while we open gifts every year!)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I digress.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Ok, so we packed up and went to Tennessee. I loved the cabin. It was so cozy and "mountain" feeling! There was a rock fireplace inside and it looked like a log cabin inside and out. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Or, perhaps it could have been because it was literally ON TOP of the mountain!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Nevertheless, it was beautiful! I took so many pictures so I thought I would split this post up into smaller posts instead of one giant photo filled blog.</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

And yes, my crazy loonatic family got in one night even though is was like 15 degrees outside! I did not however. They all said it felt great while they were in and I told them I'm sure it did feel good. But that 10 seconds of cold from getting out and running in the house was a deal buster for me. Not worth it!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I am so very thankful to have you. You are such a blessing sent straight from God and your dad and I cherish everyday with you. Here are some fun facts about you this month!</div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*We went to the doctor today and you weighed 18lb 15oz!! That's only in the 25th percentile, which means you are little. What??? Have they seen your thighs?!? lol</div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">*You were 27 1/2in long which is also in the 25 percentile. But we knew you were kinda short already! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">*You are wearing pretty much all 9 month or 9-12 month clothes now. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*You are still in a size 3 diaper, but I have been thinking about putting a size 4 on at night.</div><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*You have FINALLY started sleeping all night again. You went through a period of about 7 weeks of waking up several times every night. Mommy and daddy are so grateful you decided to stop doing that! (It may have helped since I started putting you in your own room at night instead of in our room! I was being selfish, I know ;) ) You take 2-3 naps every day too.</div><br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*You seem to be weaning yourself off of my milk since you only want to nurse once a day. You drink 4-5 bottles of formula during the day and eat baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have been trying to make most of your food and you like it really well. We just started puff and yogurt melts this past weekend and you LOVE them. You can grab them with your cute little fingers and put them right in your mouth! We have started offering some table foods too like pinches of bread or pancakes. You tried chicken today and loved it too. You don't have any teeth yet but you sure do chew and gum everything really good!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*It snowed in Pigeon Forge while we were there. It was your first time seeing snow but I'm not sure you really cared too much.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*You said "dada" for the first time in the car on the way to Gatlinburg. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">*You have been crawling really well over the past month. You have also started pulling up on everything! Caden took his first steps at 9 months and 3 days old. I don't think it will be too much longer before you start trying to walk!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">It is getting so much harder to take your monthly pictures! You are all over the place and it's hard to get you to sit still even for a few seconds to take snap a picture. Every day with you is so much fun and even though we've technically done all this before with your brother, it's all brand new for us again because you two are different in many ways! We love you!!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

We've been SOOOO busy this month and we've all been sick with colds and stomach bugs and I have lost the charger for my camera and yada yada yada......... So..............I'm just gonna do one BIG post about some of the things I'm thankful for!<br />
<br />
<br />
I'm thankful for:<br />
1-Salvation provided by a gracious and loving God!<br />
2-My best friend... my childhood sweetheart... the love of my life... my husband.<br />
3-My fun big boy Caden. <br />
4-My sweet little boy Jaxten.<br />
5-A healthy family.<br />
6-My job. Even though I would rather stay home with my babies, I am thankful to have a job in this economy.<br />
7-A warm and loving place to live. There are many things I would love to change about our house, but it has heat and air and it stays dry in the rain. It is simply HOME.<br />
8-Reliable cars! Last year around this time BOTH my and my husband's cars had to be replaced within one month of each other because the motors blew.<br />
9-My mom. She's my best friend (besides my hubby). We haven't always had a great relationship but we do now and I'm very thankful for her.<br />
10-My daddy. I always have been and always will be daddy's girl. I still feel like a little girl that just wants her dad to hold her sometimes when I'm around him and I think that's ok!<br />
11-My granny. She has ALWAYS been there for me no matter what and I could never thank or repay her enough.<br />
12-The best in-laws ever! I have no awful mother-in-law jokes to tell because mine is wonderful!<br />
13-A great country like the USA to live in.<br />
14-My church. Hanes Baptist Church is the greatest! I feel so at home when I'm there and that is really important to me in a church.<br />
15-Wonderful friends. I love having people I can turn to when I need to talk, or cry, or shop! or eat at Olive Garden! (that one is for my girls at work ;) )<br />
16-COFFEE!! And my new Keurig! Need I say more?!?<br />
17-Music and the ability to sing a little bit. I'm certainly not the greatest singer but I sure do enjoy trying!<br />
18-Heat. It's getting down-right cold outside!<br />
19-Soldiers in foreign places fighting for our freedom. If it weren't for them I probably wouldn't even be able to have a blog to post my own feelings and thoughts. (Love you Aaron and hope you can safely come home soon)<br />
20-The beach. I love the beach and the ocean.<br />
21-Mercy. God's mercies are new each and every morning whether I deserve them(trust me, I don't) or not.<br />
22-My dog. I know it seems a little silly but I love our dog Pacey. He's a Shar-Pei and he's so cute with his wrinkly little self!<br />
23-Chocolate. (I never said all these would be serious or inspirational. Just things I'm thankful for and chocolate is one of them! LOL)<br />
24-Time off to spend with our families.<br />
25-Thanksgiving and all the good food that comes along with it!!!<br />
26-My new camera that we bought the day after Thanksgiving!!<br />
27-Caden's school. He goes to a christian school and they are helping to teach him so many things about the Bible and Jesus and he amazes me everyday at how much he is learning.<br />
28-The Bible, God's Holy inspired word. It holds so many truths and promises and can help in any situation you are in.<br />
29-Vacations, like getting to go to Gatlinburg, Tenn in a few days!!<br />
30-Christmas and baby Jesus being born!<br />
<br />
So there you have it. A lot of thankfullness in one swoop!<br />
<br />
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!!!~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-66480204822377005662010-11-06T13:14:00.000-07:002010-12-06T14:20:37.246-08:00Jaxten is 8 months old!<div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;">Jaxten, you are 8 months old!</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center">(<span style="font-size: x-small;">Picture coming soon, can't find the charger for my camera battery :( )</span></div><div align="center"><br />
<br />
</div><div align="left">You are growing so fast and changing or learning something new everyday. Here are some fun facts about you this month.</div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">*We have not been to the dr this month but I know you have to weigh close to 20lbs! My arms can feel it!</div><div align="left"><br />
</div><div align="left">*You are wearing some 6-9 month clothes but they are getting kinda *snug*. You wear mostly 9 month or 6-12 month outfits. It just depends on the store they come from.<br />
<br />
*You are still in a size 3 diaper. It seems like this might be the one that sticks for a while.<br />
<br />
*You go through phases where you really like to eat, and then you don't. Not sure what that is all about because I LOVE to eat! You take mostly formula now, only nursing at bedtime and in the morning usually. I have made some baby food at home (Yay, me! <span style="font-size: x-small;">Had to throw that in since I really don't cook much!</span>) and it's actually pretty good. So far I have made sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, applesauce, pears, pears with raspberries, and bananas. You eat all of it really well. <br />
<br />
*You still absolutely will have nothing to do with a sippy cup. Couldn't care less about drinking any juice or water!<br />
<br />
*You have not been such a great sleeper for the past SEVERAL weeks which is making mommy and daddy a little crazy! You wake up at least 2 times a night, and sometimes it's more like 7-8 times a night! You don't wake up screaming or anything and you usually go back to sleep fairly quick. But once or twice a night you wake up and think it's time to play or something because you won't go back to sleep for at least 45 minutes! Sometimes in the wee hours of the night when I'm deleriously sleepy, I just bring you to bed with me and you scoot back and forth between me and daddy. You crawl up on our chest and get right in our face until we open our eyes. Then you flash that huge gummy grin and we can't help but smile. I just wish you would only be cute during the day, not at night! (I know this is awful but you are still in a bassinet in our room and I think we will be moving to the crib very soon!)<br />
<br />
*You are halfway crawling now. You move a knee and then a hand and then you lunge forward. <br />
<br />
*You still love to take a bath. I am hoping this sticks too!<br />
<br />
*You make all kinds of noise now that you have found your voice. We have started putting you in the nursery at church because you can get louder than the preacher!<br />
<br />
I am amazed at how much you are growing and learning. I think you must be the smartest baby in the world (besides your brother at that age ;) )! Mommy and daddy are so very proud of you!<br />

She has been a constant rock in my life and I could never repay her for all she has done for me. She took me in when I was little and hauled me back and forth to school (in another school district) and band practice. She put up with me during those awful teenage years. She bought my school clothes, my first car, and my second, and actually my third too! (For some reason she bought me two of those cars before I even turned 16 so my mom ended up with those 2). At any rate, she has done a lot for me over the years. She has taught me some very valuble lessons about life along the way too. She's very wise, although I have not always thought she was (like through those awful teenage years!). I would have avoided some big mistakes if I had always listened to and taken her advice! <br />
<br />
Thank you Lord for my granny who means the world to me.~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-35758672507456183542010-11-05T11:43:00.000-07:002010-11-10T13:35:32.357-08:00Month of Thanks: Day 5<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today I am thankful for my mom. She is by far my best friend. She is the person that I can go to about ANYTHING and she'll listen. She will just listen and let me vent, or she'll offer advice if I ask her. She allows me to be just "me". She takes the good, the bad, and the ugly and still loves me when it's all said and done. I really cherish my relationship with her, but I fear I take it for granted sometimes too. We haven't always shared this closeness for reasons that I can't say and they are in the past anyway. But I'm so thankful that the right choices were made and we can have this bond now. She helps me in so many ways. She literally takes care of my heart all day while I'm at work... my boys!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Thank you Lord for a wonderful person in my life to be my friend and my mom.</span>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-1128827340168114092010-11-04T11:42:00.000-07:002010-11-10T13:22:50.008-08:00Month of Thanks: Day 4<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today I am thankful for my job. I had always envisioned being a stay-at-home mom at least while my kids were younger. I won't lie, I would still be tickled pink if I got the opportunity to do this. But right now, the best thing for our family is for me to work full-time outside of the home. Even on the days when I feel like pulling my hair out at work, I remember that there are those who are searching for a job. They are doing everything they can just to make ends meet and keep food on the table for their children. I'm working so we can have extra to take a vacation every year and buy Christmas gifts when lots of children don't get ANY gifts much less a vacation! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am very blessed to have a steady, reliable job to help provide for my family. Thank you Lord for your blessings.</span>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-32895339438848660172010-11-03T14:29:00.001-07:002010-11-10T11:42:06.915-08:00Month of Thanks: Day 3<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today, I am thankful for my husband. We have been together (dating/married) for over 14 years now, which is 1/2 of my ENTIRE life!! I met him when I was 13, he was 16. We met at Bible School (great place to meet!) at his church which is also where my dad went to church. We exchanged phone numbers and addresses (back in those days we didn't have texting and email, haha). It was literally love at first sight. I was asking my friends who that cute boy was. He came to find me every night after service was over just to talk. He even sat down with us girls while we were working on our class craft and helped us embroider! He poked his finger and I had to get him a tissue because it was bleeding. This is awful but for at least 5 seconds I contemplated keeping the tissue when he was done! (I know...seriously gross and possible dangerous but I was smitten!) </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">(BTW, I did NOT keep it!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Anyway, we dated for 6 years...was engaged for 2 of those years...and we've been married for 8 years now! We have had our ups and most definately our downs like everyone else, but one thing has never changed through all the years and all the fights and all the times where we just plain didn't like each other.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Love.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have been in love with this man since the day I met him, I'm more in love with him today, and I'll love him for all the days yet to come. He has been a wonderful husband and an amazing father to our boys. I can't imagine not having him in my life to grow old with.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I love you Scottie, and I'm forever yours faithfully!</span>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-35660237368322566312010-11-02T14:21:00.000-07:002010-11-10T11:07:02.735-08:00Month of Thanks: Day 2<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmqVgjXSY-sVaqtQHPD0oQ0tNuO2Tu9tkO15y6sZha5pB156rZ5NUqLw_dsBJCbIqzb-N8cuKoY6c5VQawigN8VSE6B8OQkxcZnFX3-2-43fYZRayjUE1lhvA1aycAY5mD_l7Jrf71tlY/s1600/27016_1384728774939_1133593320_31179404_3333870_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmqVgjXSY-sVaqtQHPD0oQ0tNuO2Tu9tkO15y6sZha5pB156rZ5NUqLw_dsBJCbIqzb-N8cuKoY6c5VQawigN8VSE6B8OQkxcZnFX3-2-43fYZRayjUE1lhvA1aycAY5mD_l7Jrf71tlY/s320/27016_1384728774939_1133593320_31179404_3333870_n.jpg" width="214" /></a><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Fun Boy!!</span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

</div><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today, I am thankful for healthy children. I have the 2 most wonderful boys anyone could ask for. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There are so many children out there that have health problems and it breaks my heart that they have to suffer. Several blogs that I follow are about these brave little souls and the struggles they have. There is a great lesson to be learned from those precious children. Most of them just smile right through all the pain. It humbles me to think of them when I'm complaining about being stuck in traffic or when McDonald's gets my order wrong. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes when I watch Caden running around the house like a wild monkey my first instinct is to get aggrivated. But quite often I catch myself before the <strike>mad, angry yelling</strike> mild words of correction start. In that moment I am so overcome with joy that he is able to run around and act like a monkey that I can't even be mad about it! </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I thank God for my children. They are wonderfully healthy and perfect to me! They are so adorable, and very smart if I do say so myself! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;"> </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiISMRkPkQSVtL_K2Oocx5UsQuTFLHvhDOCNIDUZ5p9wx58tTnwjOn6pW86Fp5-l2gP2WtqbzvzjRAVIsD8ZLXg7SQcNcIsRAZo_1kjA6Hiffq7xj63F19OEvHqDulK3U9Tw29NSQGSkaA/s1600/DSC03800.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" px="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiISMRkPkQSVtL_K2Oocx5UsQuTFLHvhDOCNIDUZ5p9wx58tTnwjOn6pW86Fp5-l2gP2WtqbzvzjRAVIsD8ZLXg7SQcNcIsRAZo_1kjA6Hiffq7xj63F19OEvHqDulK3U9Tw29NSQGSkaA/s320/DSC03800.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-38235528044697626762010-11-01T13:47:00.000-07:002010-11-10T09:30:56.818-08:00Month of Thanks: Day 1<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I want to try something on here, but I'm going to be completely honest and up front right from the start. I want to post one thing I'm thankful for every day in November, but my blogging track record doesn't make this look promising! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But....I'm gonna give it a valient effort anyway because I have SO MUCH to be thankful for.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So here we go! (These are in no particular order either)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today, I am thankful for my salvation. I have a wonderful, merciful and loving God who sent his only son to die for me. He did this knowing how awful and sinful I would be. He loves me that much! Sometimes it's easy to take this for granted but we should be careful not to. It's really a big deal when you think of spending all of eternity in Heaven which is greater and more beautiful than our minds can comprehend!</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Thank you Lord for loving even me enough to save my unworthy soul on March 30, 1997!</span>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-74527820896933372382010-10-21T11:54:00.000-07:002010-10-21T11:54:12.859-07:00Music to my ears!<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Last night as we were getting ready for bed, the most awesome thing happened! I laid Jaxten down on the floor to change his diaper before his bedtime feeding and he cried and fussed a little. Then, when I reached down to pick him up he looked at me and just as plain as day I heard the most precious noise come out of his little mouth................</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">"mamama"!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">Oh be still my heart!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I grabbed him and started "yay"-ing and I asked Scottie if he heard it. He said he didn't hear anything. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">(Yeah, whatever. He was two feet away and he's just in denial)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">;)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">But wait...it get's better! I sat down with him on the couch to feed him and he looked at me and said it again!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">"mama"</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">(This is where I melted into a puddle and slid right off into the floor!)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">(Scottie is still in denial because I know he heard it again!)</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I have been waiting for these two sweet little syllables. Sure he was crying when he said it, (Caden also said mama for the first time while he was crying for me) but I don't care one bit. And it wasn't his first sound, but I don't care about that either! I'm just so honored to be his "mama" and I'm tickled if he calls me anything!!</span>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-82120867894307708312010-10-19T08:07:00.000-07:002010-10-21T11:47:32.984-07:00What a Difference<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We live within walking distance to a public park so I love to take the kids on nice days to get outside for a while. We don't get to go much since I work all day during the week but sometimes on Saturdays we get to play for a while. I found a picture I took of Caden on a slide at the park. I think it must have been a few months before he turned 2 because he didn't have some of his teeth. He was still terrified of getting a haircut so it was really long! I miss his pretty long hair sometimes! :(</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqT_Fz_PVNqpjoQmjHjNToLiDeB4ddmQ_FOWkLACqdGg2LKWjIYYF3TC6gOsI3GxMqQCype2NrfsjhAW75OJS7SYOy6Q0YRuztQXOcfwTEkUn2k2a6ZVTbKSRsKbAiduJDxQ70RHhe6_w/s1600/Sliding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqT_Fz_PVNqpjoQmjHjNToLiDeB4ddmQ_FOWkLACqdGg2LKWjIYYF3TC6gOsI3GxMqQCype2NrfsjhAW75OJS7SYOy6Q0YRuztQXOcfwTEkUn2k2a6ZVTbKSRsKbAiduJDxQ70RHhe6_w/s320/Sliding.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My precious, cute little boy!!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We went to the park again the other day and I had a De-ja-vou moment when he climbed up to go on this slide again. I made him sit still (that's a feat in itself) for a picture and I'm just amazed at the difference 2 1/2 years can make!</span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj05jByvzlzSrsAbjuYnvMzRKeufYf2XcPO5Kw6e2kZhX66TK2xKGK8TtsyS-anOe8GHR3IDNMV8EieCSWbBrdvJljuatJ-J6OCWY5MrYqoKCOX3aAKilyWfKPcEcgeA2XaeGJiWuTyM60/s1600/Sliding2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj05jByvzlzSrsAbjuYnvMzRKeufYf2XcPO5Kw6e2kZhX66TK2xKGK8TtsyS-anOe8GHR3IDNMV8EieCSWbBrdvJljuatJ-J6OCWY5MrYqoKCOX3aAKilyWfKPcEcgeA2XaeGJiWuTyM60/s320/Sliding2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">My baby's hair is all gone and look at those skinny. LOOOONG legs!!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;">They grow up SO FAST! I've always been told that and they (whoever "they" are LOL) weren't kidding! Maybe I'll take his picture on this slide every year from now until he graduates high school, which won't actually be too long at the rate we're going!</span></div>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6494261508257294252.post-16968660940143488732010-10-18T11:05:00.000-07:002010-10-21T11:18:07.228-07:00My Little Pumpkin<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We had Jaxten's 7 month pictures done this weekend (a little late, I know). I think they are just adorable. He was great until the end and I tried to put the cutest little hat on him. He was having NO PART of the hat! I'll just get some pictures of him at our local pumpkin patch with the hat! </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;">Here's what we did get.</span> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

(By the way, the shirt is NOT pink. It is orange with little white checks, I promise!)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana;">This really makes it feel more like fall now!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Today, October 15th, is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am so blessed to have never felt the pain of losing a baby. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have learned not to take it lightly that I have had 2 pregnancies that both resulted in beautiful, healthy children. I read so many blogs about people who are not able to say that and my heart aches for them. I can't even begin to imagine what that might feel like and I won't pretend that I could. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I know that God has a perfect plan for each and every person, but somehow the simple words "It was God's will" just don't seem sufficient for someone that has been forced to let go of a child from this earth. I have a <a href="http://jordanandjennycline.blogspot.com/">dear friend</a> who just recently found out at her 16 week appointment that her precious little baby's heart had stopped beating and my heart hit the floor when she told us on the phone. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">There are just no words.....</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">The only thing I can offer is prayer. It's the only thing I know that really works. So if you or someone you know has suffered a loss of this kind, just know that Jesus knows. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">And he cares.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">We have a BIG day today! We are celebrating the 100th year anniversary of my church, Hanes Baptist Church.....AND our pastor, Ron Groce, has been there for 25 years this month......AND it's Homecoming Sunday......AND it's our first service in our brand new church!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;">Whew....that makes me exhausted just typing it!</div><div style="text-align: left;">Last night we had a special service with a catered dinner following to honor our pastor. He is a wonderful man of God and I absolutely love to hear him preach. He preaches straight from the KJV Bible and doesn't compromise for anyone and I love the stand he has taken for our Lord. This church has been such a blessing in my life since we found it 3 years ago. It's a joy to have a great church with a great church family to share in this walk of life. We've been having church in a gym that is now our Family Life Center for the past several years. The original church was across town but they bought land and built a gym in anticipation of building a larger, new church. God has been good and allowed us to finally build this new place and we are having our very first service on Homecoming day! I think the timing worked out just perfect! </div><div style="text-align: left;">That's just like my God.....Perfect!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Anywho....hope you all have a wonderful and blessed 10-10-10!!!!</div>~Ashlea~http://www.blogger.com/profile/07572428394652467365noreply@blogger.com0
