Jaxten is 11 months old!

Jaxten, you are 11 months old!

*We don't know how much you weigh this month but you don't seem to be having a growth spurt right now!  I look at you sometimes and think how small you seem which I didn't think we would ever say about you!  Even your thighs are slimming down and that's kind of sad. lol

*You are wearing 9-12 month clothes but some of your 6 month onesies still fit pretty good.

*You are holding steady in a size 3 diaper.

*You are trying new foods all the time.  You eat almost anything we give you.  You like lots of vegetables and some fruits.  You like to eat chicken and beef and LOVE bread!  You only eat baby food sometimes, but mostly we feed you what we are eating.  You still have 4 bottles of formula every day.  I would give you some juice or milk in a sippy cup but you are having no part of a sippy cup!

*You have learned how to drink from a straw and it is the cutest thing!!

*You are sleeping better than you have been.  You only wake up once in a while and usually go back to sleep within about 5-10 minutes.  You still take 2 naps everyday except on Sat and Sun because we are so busy you just cat nap all day and sleep when you can.  Poor thing!  But you don't seem to mind at all because you never fuss.

*You are the most laid back baby I've ever seen.  You don't cry and fuss and you don't get too loud even when you are excited.  Everyone comments on how easy you are to take care of and how "chill" you are!

*You are cruising along furniture a little now and you can walk behind your little push toys really well!  But you can crawl super fast so I'm not sure you are too excited to learn to walk anyway.

*You LOVE your brother!  You are fascinated just watching him (he's crazy most of the time!).  You give like to grab his head and hug and kiss him.  You laugh out loud at him all the time!

*We started letting you and Caden take a bath together and you both play and splash!  Caden has always hated water on his face and in his ears, but you don't mind if I pour it all over your head!

*You are so cuddly and I L.O.V.E that!! I could just melt into a puddle in the floor when you wrap those precious little arms around my neck and squeeze tight!  You are also very kissy and like to "gum" my chin and cheeks.

I am so proud of you and all the new things you can do!  I can hardly believe the next monthly update we post will actually be the first yearly post!

Thought I would share some of the "out-takes" from our photo shoot! It's getting harder to get a good picture of this wiggle worm actually sitting still and looking at the camera where you can see the number on his shirt.

See, told you those thighs were disappearing!

Jaxten is 10 months old!

Jaxten, you are 10 months old!

*You weighed 19lb 5oz at the doctor today!

*You are STILL wearing a size 3 diaper.  I guess you are taking after me and just not going to have a big tush (like your daddys)!

*You wear 9 mth, 9-12mth, and 6-12mth clothes depending on where they are from.

*You sleep pretty well most of the time.  You go to bed between 8:30-9:00pm and get up around 7:30am.  You take a morning nap around 10:00am and an afternoon nap around 1:00pm.

*You LOVE to eat!  You usually take 4 bottles a day with 6-8oz of formula each.  You eat all kinds of foods now.  We've tried pretty much every kind of baby food out there but you really like "big people" food that you can use your fingers to eat.

*You have started saying "nanana" which makes Nana super excited and Mimi.....well.....not so much. LOL

*You are pulling up on everything!

*You have learned how to arch your back and scoot down off of someone's lap.  It's really getting hard to keep you still!

*You still love to take a bath! You don't play much, but you really like to just sit in the water.

*You had so much fun at Christmas.  You helped open some presents but Caden did most of it for you!

*You are such a good baby! You are no problem at all.  It is a joy to have you for a son!

(I think you actually look like me and Caden in this months pictures!)

Jaxten is 9 months old!

Jaxten, you are 9 months old!

I am so very thankful to have you.  You are such a blessing sent straight from God and your dad and I cherish everyday with you.  Here are some fun facts about you this month!

*We went to the doctor today and you weighed 18lb 15oz!!  That's only in the 25th percentile, which means you are little.  What???  Have they seen your thighs?!? lol

*You were 27 1/2in long which is also in the 25 percentile.  But we knew you were kinda short already!

*You are wearing pretty much all 9 month or 9-12 month clothes now.

*You are still in a size 3 diaper, but I have been thinking about putting a size 4 on at night.

*You have FINALLY started sleeping all night again.  You went through a period of about 7 weeks of waking up several times every night.  Mommy and daddy are so grateful you decided to stop doing that! (It may have helped since I started putting you in your own room at night instead of in our room! I was being selfish, I know ;) ) You take 2-3 naps every day too.

*You seem to be weaning yourself off of my milk since you only want to nurse once a day.  You drink 4-5 bottles of formula during the day and eat baby food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I have been trying to make most of your food and you like it really well.  We just started puff and yogurt melts this past weekend and you LOVE them.  You can grab them with your cute little fingers and put them right in your mouth!  We have started offering some table foods too like pinches of bread or pancakes.  You tried chicken today and loved it too.  You don't have any teeth yet but you sure do chew and gum everything really good!

*It snowed in Pigeon Forge while we were there.  It was your first time seeing snow but I'm not sure you really cared too much.

*You said "dada" for the first time in the car on the way to Gatlinburg.

*You have been crawling really well over the past month.  You have also started pulling up on everything!  Caden took his first steps at 9 months and 3 days old.  I don't think it will be too much longer before you start trying to walk!

It is getting so much harder to take your monthly pictures! You are all over the place and it's hard to get you to sit still even for a few seconds to take snap a picture.  Every day with you is so much fun and even though we've technically done all this before with your brother, it's all brand new for us again because you two are different in many ways!  We love you!!

(Almost every picture we took for the 9month shot have this wooden painted fish in it because he was ABSOLUTELY NOT going to sit down until I handed him the fish!)

Jaxten is 8 months old!

Jaxten, you are 8 months old!

(Picture coming soon, can't find the charger for my camera battery :(  )

You are growing so fast and changing or learning something new everyday.  Here are some fun facts about you this month.

*We have not been to the dr this month but I know you have to weigh close to 20lbs!  My arms can feel it!

*You are wearing some 6-9 month clothes but they are getting kinda *snug*.  You wear mostly 9 month or 6-12 month outfits.  It just depends on the store they come from.

*You are still in a size 3 diaper.  It seems like this might be the one that sticks for a while.

*You go through phases where you really like to eat, and then you don't.  Not sure what that is all about because I LOVE to eat!  You take mostly formula now, only nursing at bedtime and in the morning usually.  I have made some baby food at home (Yay, me! Had to throw that in since I really don't cook much!) and it's actually pretty good.  So far I have made sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, applesauce, pears, pears with raspberries, and bananas.  You eat all of it really well.

*You still absolutely will have nothing to do with a sippy cup.  Couldn't care less about drinking any juice or water!

*You have not been such a great sleeper for the past SEVERAL weeks which is making mommy and daddy a little crazy!  You wake up at least 2 times a night, and sometimes it's more like 7-8 times a night!  You don't wake up screaming or anything and you usually go back to sleep fairly quick.  But once or twice a night you wake up and think it's time to play or something because you won't go back to sleep for at least 45 minutes!  Sometimes in the wee hours of the night when I'm deleriously sleepy, I just bring you to bed with me and you scoot back and forth between me and daddy.  You crawl up on our chest and get right in our face until we open our eyes.  Then you flash that huge gummy grin and we can't help but smile.  I just wish you would only be cute during the day, not at night!  (I know this is awful but you are still in a bassinet in our room and I think we will be moving to the crib very soon!)

*You are halfway crawling now.  You move a knee and then a hand and then you lunge forward.

*You still love to take a bath.  I am hoping this sticks too!

*You make all kinds of noise now that you have found your voice.  We have started putting you in the nursery at church because you can get louder than the preacher!

I am amazed at how much you are growing and learning.  I think you must be the smartest baby in the world (besides your brother at that age ;) )! Mommy and daddy are so very proud of you!

Music to my ears!

Last night as we were getting ready for bed, the most awesome thing happened!  I laid Jaxten down on the floor to change his diaper before his bedtime feeding and he cried and fussed a little.  Then, when I reached down to pick him up he looked at me and just as plain as day I heard the most precious noise come out of his little mouth................

"mamama"!

Oh be still my heart!

I grabbed him and started "yay"-ing and I asked Scottie if he heard it.  He said he didn't hear anything.

(Yeah, whatever.  He was two feet away and he's just in denial)
;)

But wait...it get's better!  I sat down with him on the couch to feed him and he looked at me and said it again!

"mama"

(This is where I melted into a puddle and slid right off into the floor!)
(Scottie is still in denial because I know he heard it again!)

I have been waiting for these two sweet little syllables.  Sure he was crying when he said it, (Caden also said mama for the first time while he was crying for me) but I don't care one bit.  And it wasn't his first sound, but I don't care about that either!  I'm just so honored to be his "mama" and I'm tickled if he calls me anything!!

My Little Pumpkin

We had Jaxten's 7 month pictures done this weekend (a little late, I know).  I think they are just adorable.  He was great until the end and I tried to put the cutest little hat on him.  He was having NO PART of the hat!  I'll just get some pictures of him at our local pumpkin patch with the hat!
Here's what we did get.

I am such a sucker for smiley baby pictures!

The next pic is one of my top favorites!

I just love how the leaves are popping out and his little shirt. (By the way, the shirt is NOT pink. It is orange with little white checks, I promise!)

This really makes it feel more like fall now!

October 15th

Today, October 15th, is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day.

I am so blessed to have never felt the pain of losing a baby.

I have learned not to take it lightly that I have had 2 pregnancies that both resulted in beautiful, healthy children.  I read so many blogs about people who are not able to say that and my heart aches for them.  I can't even begin to imagine what that might feel like and I won't pretend that I could.

I know that God has a perfect plan for each and every person, but somehow the simple words "It was God's will" just don't seem sufficient for someone that has been forced to let go of a child from this earth.  I have a dear friend who just recently found out at her 16 week appointment that her precious little baby's heart had stopped beating and my heart hit the floor when she told us on the phone.

There are just no words.....

The only thing I can offer is prayer.  It's the only thing I know that really works.  So if you or someone you know has suffered a loss of this kind, just know that Jesus knows.
And he cares.

Jaxten is 7 months old!

Jaxten, you are 7 months old!

*You weigh 17lb 10.8oz (35%) and you were 26 1/4in long (25%).  I do not understand these percentages though because Caden was always in the 50th percentile on his weigh and he has never seen a day as chunky as you! (They said your head was 17 3/4in!  Lots of room for a smart brain!)

*You are wearing 6-9 month clothes now.  You could still get by with a few 3-6 month if your thighs weren't so chunky!  Everyone loves to squeeze your legs! (You can see in the picture above that I'm not lying about those thighs!) ;)

*You are still in a size 3 diaper.  You could almost fit in a size 4 but I'm going to squish you in a 3 as long as I can!  I think Caden was still in a size 2 at this point!

*You are still nursing some and taking formula.  You drink around 20 oz of milk each day.  You get cereal twice a day and you eat all kinds of baby food.  Your menu includes sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, green beans, green peas, mixed veggies with corn, apples, pears, peaches, bananas, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, mango, and probably some more that I can't think of.   You eat them all individually or any combination.  The baby food bananas smell terrible so we started just mashing up a real banana and you seem to like it much better.  You LOVE your baby food and would eat it all day!

*You go to bed around 9:00pm and I have to wake you up at 7:30am.  You take a nap around 9:30am and usually 1 or 2 more naps later in the day.  You sleep through the night most of the time but lately you've started waking up around 5:00am for a "snack".   We are gonna have to do something about these little "mid-night" snacks!

*We have been trying to let you drink from a sippy cup but you are not too interested in it right now.  You chew on it and some of the drink dribbles out but you don't really suck on it yet.

*You have started getting up on your hands and knees rocking back and forth so I know it won't be long before you are crawling!  You can scoot backwards really well though.

*You are sitting up really well now.  All of a sudden one day you got your balance and you just sat up for several minutes.  Now you can sit in a highchair at restaurants and in buggys at the store.

*We bought you a jumperoo and you are kind-of starting to get the hang of bouncing.  You still love the excersaucer but you've been done with the swing for a while now.

*You have started making all kinds of new noises.  One of your new noises is "babababa" and   Caden loves that because he thinks you are saying "Bubba" which is what we say when we are talking to you about your brother.  Now you have starting saying something that sounds like "blahblahblah"!  It's soooo cute!

*You still love to take a bath.  I hope it stays this way too!

*Your favorite thing in the whole world is to be outside.  If you do get bored or fussy, all we have to do is walk outside with you and you are instantly better!  Caden is the same way so I anticipate having trouble keeping you kiddos in the house as you get bigger!

*You have really started reaching for EVERYTHING.  If I'm holding you while doing household stuff you will lean so far trying to grab things.  You want to hold the remote, drink cups, paper, keys, and anything else you are not supposed to have.  And if we don't give it to you or we take it away, you fuss a little.  You love cell phones.  Mimi puts the speaker phone on so I can talk to you while I'm at work and you smile so big at the phone and then you look at it like you're thinking "how did mommy get in that box!"

*You cried for me when I left for work a couple of times!  It makes me want to smile and cry at the same time!

*You love to grab mommy and daddy's faces and pull us close and "kiss" (or slobber) us!  It's wonderful!

*You are such a happy baby!  The only time you cry is when you are really tired or if we leave the room or you can't see someone and you think you are alone.  Even then you usually just fuss rather than actually cry!

I'm amazed everyday at how fast you are learning and growing.  In less than a year we will be celebrating your 1st birthday (jaw dropping to the floor)!!  I better get to planning now!  I love you so much and I'm so very blessed to have a happy and healthy little boy to watch grow up.

The Three Buccaneers!

We had Jaxten's 6 month pictures taken on Saturday.  (Even though it's just a little past the six month date).  Caden's 6 month picture was him in his little Buccaneers jersey so we thought it would be fitting to do one for Jaxten too.  Scottie is all about them Bucs!

We had Caden's picture taken with red jerseys in the background but this time we did both the red and the white.  There is a really long story about the jerseys and the players and one is retired and one was traded and one is dead and yada yada yada.  But, unless you are a major Bucs fan you would never know the difference.  So we'll just focus on the cute baby in the pictures!

The eye patch........SO NOT my idea.  But Scottie seems to think it's great so we'll let him have it this time!  I must admit the middle one is kinda cute with that "Grrrr, I'm gonna get you" look (which is actually just a "man, my gums kinda hurt so I'm just gonna bite down really hard" look!)  The one with just him and the football is my fave!

The photographer says this one looks like he is praying for a win!

Another praying shot!  I told Scottie to leave God out of football.  He says there will be football in Heaven, they just won't play on Sundays!  Crazy boy!

Scottie wanted a picture of all 3 of them in their matching Bucs jerseys.  It's our first official (professional) picture of my 3 boys!  I love my boys!

The photographer thought it would be cute to add a little message to this collage.  Too funny!

Can't wait to get my big picture of this to put up on the shelf!

****I just feel something is missing from this post FULL of Buccaneer red.........

Oh. I got it!!

Jaxten is 6 months old!

Jaxten, you are 6 months old!

You are the sweetest little boy I've ever known (besides your big brother Caden)!  You are such a happy boy and so easy-going.  You are a delight to be around and everyone talks about what a good baby you are!  Here are some fun facts about you this month!

*I don't know how much you weigh because we haven't been to the doctor in a while, but we'll find out at the end of this month!

*You are wearing 3-6 month clothes but starting to wear 6-9 months too.  The smaller ones fit everywhere except your legs!

*You are in a size 3 diaper.  They fit pretty good except for around the thighs.  I keep fighting the thought of moving you to a size 4, but I think it won't be too long!  You have your daddy's legs....thick and short!

*You are going between eating really well, and not eating much at all.  You generally eat between 25-30oz of milk, about half mommy's milk and half formula.  You also get rice cereal or oatmeal twice a day and you have had quite a variety of baby food.  You have added sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, green peas, green beans, applesauce, pears, peaches, and bananas to your menu.  You LOVE to eat baby food and would eat more than I am giving you right now!

*You go to bed usually between 9-10pm and most of the time sleep through the night until I have to wake you up at 7:30am.  You go to mimi's house and play a little while, eat a bottle and take a nap.  You take around 3-4 naps per day.

*You wake up every morning with the biggest smile on your face.  As soon as you look at me, you start grinning and burying your head in the bed like you are being bashful.  Every time I walk in from work or even from the other room in the house you smile at me and it just makes me want to melt into a puddle in the floor!

*You are rolling back and forth all over the place!  You also get on your belly and scoot.  You can scoot forward and backward so no more laying you on the bed while we are out of the room!

*You are trying hard to sit up by yourself and you can do it for a little bit.  It won't be long until you can sit and play!

*You sat in a highchair on your six month birthday for the first time at Olive Garden and you really liked it a lot better than sitting back in your carseat!

*You have started saying "mamamama" and "babababa".  I don't think you are actually referring to anyone or anything but rather just making a new noise.  I don't care though, your first sound was still "mama"!

*You still love to take a bath.  You get so excited and start kicking your legs and moving your arms when you hear the water running!

*The day after you turned 5 months old, we went to a water park at the beach.  You love to be outside and you love bath water, but you were not too crazy about chilly pool water.  Maybe by next summer....

*If we hold a stuffed animal or a mirror up to you and tell you to give it kisses, you will open your little mouth as wide as you can and slobber all over it!

*You have been noticing Pacey for a while, but when he gets close to you or licks your foot you ALWAYS start laughing!  If you can get close to his head you grab him with both hands and try to pull him close to kiss him.  It's too cute!

*You absolutely LOVE your big brother.  You are facinated by everything he does.  He can make you laugh anytime he trys.  He is so good with you and you are amazed with him and that just tickles me!

You are an absolute joy to be around!  I'm so excited about all the new things you are learning but you are growing up way too fast!

Say Cheese!

Let me start this post by saying I have the most amazing photographer E V A H!!  Her name is Annette and she has recently opened a new studio in her house.  She has been our photographer since Caden was born, but she was at a different location.  She is a great person and she loves what she does.  Her prices are very affordable too. BONUS!  She takes her time and interacts with you while she is snapping away so she catches some great moments.  She is very open to any ideas that I bring and trys to capture exactly what I have in mind.  And I must say, it always turns out better than I imagined.  It does take us an hour to get to her studio, but it is in the town that Scottie's family lives in so we usually just visit with them after we are done.

You can check out her webpage here, or you can check out LOTS more photos on her facebook profile (just search Net's Family Photography McMillian).

I just wanted to share a few of the pictures we have had taken since Jaxten was born.

We had this same picture made when Caden was born.  I have 10x13's of both of them hanging in my bedroom.

I had been seeing several of these type with the baby in the net and
OH.MY.WORD.  Is this precious or what?!?
(This was taken right after he peed everywhere!)

This was a blanket and hat set that a dear lady from our old church made for me when I was pregnant with Caden.  For some reason we never had a picture made with Caden in it, but I think it's just adorable.  He looks like he's in a pea pod!

If you can enlarge this one, you will see milk coming out of the corner of his little mouth where he just finished eating!  I could just scoop him up with a spoon and eat him!

We also had Caden's picture made in a very similar pose.  I love newborn babies on a black background!  It just makes them pop right out of the picture at you!

Chillin' in the hammock!  Jenny's (a friend of mine) mom made these hammocks.  She made a tan one(pictured), a blue one and a pink one.  I think they are such a great prop!

I love this picture too, but I think I liked the outside shot a little better.  I love how relaxed he looks here though.

Yes, we do a lot of naked baby shots!  He looks like he's in a little nest here!

This smile just melts my heart!!
(I got the poem from a picture on display at Tiny Toes Imaging where we had our 3D/4D ultrasound performed.)

This next one is my favorite of all time (so far anyway)   ;)
We plan to have this one made into a big canvas for the living room.  I wanted to capture all of his little baby parts and this turned out so much better than I had expected.  Everyone has commented about how pretty his lips are since the ultrasound pictures.  We also wanted to show the little dimple in his left ear that is just like his daddy.  We had to get that adorable little belly button and his hair (or lack thereof)!  I am in love with the picture of his feet with our wedding rings on his toes.  (If you'll notice how he is holding his toes on the foot with my ring on it, he has the big toe and pinky toe spread out with the other 3 in the middle together.  That is something that my mom, me and Caden can all do with our feet!)  The bottom right picture just cracks me up with his expression and that was about as much of a tushy picture as I wanted!

I can't wait to get this on my wall!

This last one is an idea that my husband had when I was pregnant with Caden but for one reason or another we never did it.  We were determined to do it this time and I'm so glad we did.  I think it is just precious to see me 'envisioning' my newborn baby while I'm looking at my pregnant belly!

Thank you so much Annette!!  You are the bestest ever!!

Jaxten is 5 months old!

Jaxten, you are 5 months old!

You are developing such a sweet personality and becoming a unique individual.  Here are some fun facts about you this month!

*You weigh 15lb 12.8oz (70 %), and are 25 1/2in long (73%). (July 22nd)

*You are wearing mostly 3-6mth clothes.  We still squeeze you in a few 0-3mth outfits and have had you swimming in a few 6mth ones!

*You were in a size 2 diaper, but we just finished our last pack so we went ahead and moved you to a size 3.  Your thighs are getting a little too big to squeeze in a 2!

*You are eating really well and growing big and strong.  You eat about 28-32oz of milk a day, mostly mommy's milk with about 6-10oz of formula.  You usually eat 5oz at a time.  We started rice cereal this month and you have gobbled it right up since the very first time!

*You go to bed around 10:00pm and usually sleep until about 4:00-4:30am.  You still sleep in a bassinet in our room, but I have to admit I have been bad a few times and let you snuggle in the bed with me for a while.  I know it's wrong but it's so sweet!  When you wake up you nurse for a few minutes and then go right back to sleep until I have to wake you up at 7:30am to take you to Mimi's house.  You take several naps a day, but you are awake for hours at a time too.

*You figured out how to roll over from your back to your belly on July 8th!  Now every time we lay you down somewhere, it isn't 30 seconds until you've done flipped right over!  Gone are the days of you staying put!  Mimi said you rolled from your belly to your back on July 12th, but I haven't seen it yet.

*You grasped a toy on purpose and held on to it for the first time on July 14th.  I think it was a little teething ring or something.

*Everyone still thinks you are teething because you are still knawing on fingers and anything you can get in your mouth and you are slobbering a whole lot.  But I think you just like to chew stuff because it's something new.

*You absolutely LOVE to take a bath!  Most of the time I just get in the big bath tub with you.  I think it's easier than getting out your little tub and filling it with water which will then be splashed all over the bathroom floor.  As soon as you hear the water start running your little eyes light up and you start smiling!

*You have started making the cutest face!  You suck your bottom lip in your mouth and it looks like an old man who forgot to put his teeth in.

*You learned how to make a new noise.  It's like you are blowing a raspberry or blowing bubbles.  It is so cute!

*You do not like to lean back at all anymore.  In your carseat, your swing, the bathtub, it doesn't matter where you are,  you want to sit up like a big boy!

*We went to the beach one day before you turned 5 months old!  We had a great time.  You loved being outside on the beach, but you weren't too sure about dipping your feet in the ocean water.  You didn't make a noise at first, but then you started to whine when we did it again.  When we were holding you down at the edge of the water, you wouldn't take your eyes off the water.  You watched the water roll in around our feet and then watched it go back out as if you were thinking "please mommy don't put me in that cold stuff"!

*You are such a good baby.  Since you've been born you've never cried in the middle of the night.  When you wake up to eat, you just grunt until I pick you up!  The only time you do cry is if you are in pain (gas), really hungry or really tired (you have quit crying in the car all the time now).  Sometimes you fuss if we leave the room or you can't see us!

It is such a blessing to have you and your brother in my life!  I can't even remember what filled my days before you two!

Something to chew on, (or maybe gum on!)

My little man Jaxten turned 4 months old July 6th.

Which in case you haven't realized yet

That is ONE THIRD OF A YEAR OLD!

OMW, I'll have a toddler before you know it.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand.  Little man has started watching us very intently while we eat.  He'll watch your fork move from the plate to your mouth and then stare you straight in the face.  He will then commence to drooling and chewing on his fingers.  Poor thing, all he gets is my milk which has no taste and formula which doesn't taste good.  So, I decided we would try some cardboard flakes rice cereal.  Just mix a little bit of the cereal with some of mommy's milk and you get a bowl of tasteless baby goodness I guess.

Yuummmmmm!  This is pretty good stuff mom! (I'm thinking yuck, gag a maggot!)

(I'll try to add a picture if/when I find them!)

Overall he did pretty well with it though.  I mixed it quite runny to begin with but I had to thicken it a little.  He opens his little mouth like a baby bird.  It's the cutest thing!  I can't wait to give him some baby food and stuff with flavor!  It's so exciting all over again.
